International Scholars
International scholars come to MIT from around the world to teach, conduct research, collaborate, and for other purposes. This diverse group of professionals includes visiting scientists, professors, artists, and scholars, as well as postdoctoral fellows and associates, research associates and scientists, faculty, and other instructional staff. During academic year 2024–2025, MIT hosted 2,359 international scholars from 98 countries in 70 departments, laboratories, centers, and institutes. Seventy-one percent were men and 29% were women.
